But, are you KnowOYO?
oyo fitness equipment
This company was founded by Paul Francis, the same guy who invented SpiraFlex OYO, or “On (more on that in a minute). After much success with this new resistance technology, into portable fitness equipment. The portable fitness equipment
And they all rely on SpiraFlex Technology. They are all designed for on-the-go fitness, making the need for bulky free weights and machines unnecessary.
They’ve taken the portable exercise idea and real exercise it.OYO has partnered up with different companies to provide their worker's fitness breaks at their desks- a brilliant idea. Not only is it great marketing for their products, but it might help folks stuck in the office get some much-needed exercise.
OYO’s Personal Gyms are also being found in group exercise classes like Pilates, Yoga, and spin classes.
But what makes these products stand out from the rest of the pack? That would be the SpiraFlex Discs.
WhatIsSpiraFlex?
SpiraFlexis what provides the resistance for the OYO devices (the original Double flex and the OYO Personal Gym). I first came across this technology when I was reviewing the Bowflex Revolution, which I believe was the first home fitness machine to use it. Paul Francis licensed the tech to Nautilus, Inc and helped them develop the Revolution, which has been a big success.
Francis came up with the idea to help astronauts stay fit in space. If you think about it, it’s tough to work out when you don’t have gravity pulling you down. Lifting weights don’t work. Our good old’fashioned body weight exercises like push-ups pull-ups, and squats don’t work either (because you are weightless in space).
To overcome this hurdle, Francis designed resistance that isn’t dependent on gravity- enter SpiraFlex. SpiraFlexcomes in the shape of lightweight discs. Inside the discs, are a series of stretchy bands (similar to resistance bands, but more durable material). As the disc rotates, it stretches the bands and provides resistance. Unlike a typical resistance band that offers variable resistance (more resistance the farther they stretch it), we design SpiraFlexdiscs to provide a more constant resistance that feels more enjoy lifting free weights.
Turns out they worked. The astronauts in the International Space Station have been using this technology for a decade to help maintain muscle and bone mass while working in a zero-gravity environment.
Back here on Earth though, these discs also have added benefits. SpiraFlexdiscs are lightweight and small, which means they don’t take up much space. 25 lb of SpiraFlexresistanceonly weighs like 2 lb- this makes it the perfect tech to use for portableexercise equipment.
And with a feel that mimics free weights, it can work as a nice alternative for folks who don’t like the feel of resistance bands.
So far I like what I’m seeing- we have a company based solely around a technology that is NASA tested and approved. Now let’s see exactly what we get to the OYO Personal Gym.
Experience buying a productThe OYO Personal Gym LE
The Personal Gym version (or DoubleFlex Black) of this device is the second generation edition. The DoubleFlex was their first creation, but do not worry, the only thing that changed was the color and how much resistance comes with it. The original DoubleFlex is still available on their website I believe.
All in the box
When you open the OYO Fitness box, the inside cover reveals a quick start guide describing how to attach the flex-packs
1 x OYO Personal GymLE
1 x Door Attachment
3 x Flexpacks
2 x Leg Attachments
1 x Product Guide
The picture below shows the OYO Fitness facility with two flex-packs hooked up. The primary flex-pack should be a 10lb resistance pack and a complete of three flex-packs include the athletic facility. OYO Fitness doesn't sell further flex-packs on an individual basis. You'll additionally see that within the second image below, the athletic facility often folds into a really transportable package.
In the close-up image below of the flexpack, on one facet there's the middle spindle with internal gears that lines up with the opposite flexpacks which permit them to attach to every other. The red arrow shows the marking for the right orientation to feature every flexpack to the opposite. There are three holes that settle for the “legs” from different flexpacks as part of the securing mechanism. On the flipside of the flexpack, there's the gear spindle with externals that protrudes and connects to a different flexpack and 3 notched “legs” that conjointly connect and secure the flexpacks to every otherpackage.
The following picture shows the 2 included straps that connect to each side of the OYO gym and allow the gym to be strapped to your legs or arms for different types of exercises.
Anyway, OYO obviously upgraded the look and design. With their sleek Personal Gym, you have a black high strength polymer frame. There are nylon coated stainless steel cables laced within the bow. On each end, there is a handgrip that can also attach to a floor or leg attachment. The SpiraFlex discs attach to the middle of the frame.
SpiraFlex, you can connect them together to get the cumulative resistance. So, if you have a 5 lb disc and a 10 lb disc, you can connect them both to get 15 lb of resistance.
The OYO Personal Gym comes with 25 lb of resistance in the form of a ‘5 lb’ disc and 2 ’10 lb’ discs. You have to connect all 3 to the center of the frame to feel the max resistance.
Most users agree the OYO feels sturdy and well-built. The frame doesn’t feel flimsy and the steel cables running through it are more than durable enough to handle the resistances being applied.
The device itself is around 2 feet long and only weighs about 3 lb with all the SpiraFlex discs attached. It folds in half too, allowing it to easily fit in any bag or suitcase. When it comes to portability, the OYO gym does score big. Read more: The Complete Guide to Workout an OYO FITNESS GYM, (Full course by OYO FITNESS)
When I opened the OYO Fitness gymnasium box, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of each component and the compact size. The instructions are clear and you can get started right away. Adding and removing the Flexpacks to regulate the resistance is kind of straightforward and also the basic exercises will all be performed with just the OYO and the Flexpacks. OYO includes straps that permit you to connect the gymnasium to a door or any such structure to accomplish pulley-block kind exercises that you just would ordinarily do with a bigger gym system. At first, I used to be skeptical regarding whether or not or not this compact device may really give enough resistance to even build most folk break a sweat, however, I presently revealed that it's quite capable of doing this and really versatile. It provides American state a full exercising and may be employed by the enthusiast, the occasional traveler, or the fitness fanatic.
After that I have got the following:
Personal Gym LE (obviously)
1 ‘5 lb’ SpiraFlex disc
2 ’10 lb’ SpiraFlex discs
1 door anchor
2-foot attachments
Nutrition guide
Exercise wall chart

And you can also Watch this comprehensive guide to using OYO Personal Gym the free workout videos online. OYO even designed a 10-week challenge you can access if you want to perform the guided workouts Here.
I think this is a fairly generous package for the price. Speaking of price, for an additional $50 you can upgrade to the OYO Gym Pro, which includes integrated sensors that allow you to connect directly to the app- helps you count reps and track calories, etc.
But for me the LE and PRO versions are the exact same physical product: they look identical from the outside and each come with 25lbs of resistance. The PRO model has integrated sensors and bluetoothtechnology which allows the device to pair with the OYO Coaching App for iOS (Apple devices only for now). With this connection, the Coaching App will count reps and provide real-time pacing coaching so that you know you're getting the full range of motion and have the right pace
In any case, I was practiceexercises four or five times a week. I do fast walking for about 4 kilometers, followed by 35-50 sit-ups, 15-20 pushups, 35 leg-raises and, 15 angled and partial pull-ups (feet on the ground), 35-40 full squats. I've been doing this for decades. When I was younger I also used a Bullworker but I felt the isometric exercises were not good for one's circulatory system. I also did strength training at thegym with exercise machines in my 40s to 60s and ended up training at home with rubber bands, but stopped because I have high blood pressure and the progressive resistance of the bands was either too light at the start or too heavy at the end of each exercise.
Well, the OYO personal Gym, with its lightweight and adjustable linear resistance suits me just fine. I discovered that it is not so much of a device for doing very heavy low repetition power building exercises but more of a device designed for high repetition interval training. You can almost do all of the various exercises non-stop and even 15 lbs of the available 25 lbs of resistance are enough to give me a good workout and build up quite a sweat, especially if the various exercise sessions on the DVD or online at here. Starting out I have been combining two Fast Five-minute Workouts (Arms+Shoulders and the Chest+Back), for a really good 10-minute workout almost every day.
All in all, the OYO Personal Gym is perfect for what I want to do and that is to keep my muscles toned without overdoing it which could be dangerous at my age. It is a quality device made of a very high-grade plastic material and backed by a first class company with great support. Some reviewers expressed that they were not satisfied because it is made of 'plastic'. I guess they expected a heavy duty iron device which would defeat the purpose of the OYO Personal Gym. If the OYO Personal Gym were heavy it would be almost impossible to do many of the very beneficial exercises that are possible with this lightweight but very well made device.

Briefly is a pretty thoughtful product. Just like the name suggests, it is a mini gym that you can bring to almost anywhere due to its size and excises you can do with it. A pretty good one for people who mainly want to gain strength or keep in shape, like me :) I have excised with it for 2 weeks till now, and I can literally see the change happening to my body (mainly arms and chest; and I believe abdomen too, but not quite obvious). However, still, need to go out and run for aerobic.
